Anaheim is located in Orange County, in the State of California, U.S.A. It was founded in 1857. The name originates from the German settlers taking “anna” after the Santa Ana River and the “heim” from the German word for home. The name and spelling were later changed to Anaheim. By 1860, vineyards & wineries abound. The vines were killed off by various plant viruses so the locals started harvesting oranges. Chinese and Mexican laborers were largely responsible for building up the area. After Disneyland was opened in 1955, the city quickly realized that it would draw tourists from far and wide thus prompting the city to turn their focus to tourism. The population of Anaheim is 336,265.
