Cincinnati was founded in 1788 and is located in the county of Hamilton, in the State of Ohio in the Midwest part of the U.S.A. The original name of the settlement (1789) was Fort Washington, after George Washington. It was then changed to Losantiville and finally renamed for the last time in 1790 to Cincinnati by Arthur St. Clair. The town’s name is recognition of the Roman citizen soldier Cincinnatus. Hamilton County is named after Alexander Hamilton. Cincinnati–Middletown–Wilmington (CSA) combined statistical area is the largest city in Ohio with a population of 2.2 million residents. Five US presidents herald from Cincinnati, Benjamin Harrison, Rutherford B. Hayes, Ulysses S. Grant, William Henry Harrison and William Howard Taft. Cincinnati is headquarters to many companies such as the Kroger supermarket chain, Bicycle Playing cards and Proctor and Gamble, just to name a few.
