Parking Validation and Access Control
Parking BOXX systems handle validation and access control as integrated functions in CloudEASE — not as separate systems bolted together. Merchant validation, employer discounts, tenant access credentials, and transient pay-on-exit all run through the same platform.
Mixed-population facilities manage every parker type from a single CloudEASE dashboard. Parking Made Easy®.
Validation Workflows in CloudEASE
Parking validation is the mechanism by which a third party — a merchant, an employer, a hospital department, or a building tenant — subsidizes part or all of a parker's parking fee. CloudEASE manages validation through configurable rules tied to validation codes, credential types, or transaction attributes.
The most common validation workflow uses codes. A merchant issues a validation code to a customer at point of sale. The customer enters the code at the exit pay station. CloudEASE looks up the code, confirms it is valid and unused, applies the configured discount — a flat dollar amount, a percentage, a time credit, or a full comp — and completes the transaction at the adjusted rate. The validation is logged with the code, the parker's ticket number, and the discount amount for reconciliation.
Employer parking programs use the same validation mechanism with codes distributed to employees or tied to employee credential records. When an employee with a validation-linked credential exits, the discount applies automatically without code entry. The employer is billed for the validation total on a monthly basis, not per individual transaction.
Merchant validation reporting in CloudEASE shows each merchant's total validation usage by period — how many validations were issued, the total discount value, and the average discount per validation. Merchants that subsidize parking for their customers can see exactly how much they are spending and confirm the parking benefit is being used by actual customers rather than abused.
Access Control and Transient Parking in the Same System
Facilities that serve both credentialed monthly parkers and transient pay-per-use parkers run both populations through the same CloudEASE system. At entry, the system determines what a parker is based on what they present: a credential for immediate gate opening, or nothing for ticket-based transient entry.
Credentialed parkers — tenants, employees, monthly permit holders — enter and exit with a card, fob, or license plate recognition. CloudEASE verifies the credential, confirms the access window is valid, and opens the gate. No ticket issued. No payment required on exit. The access event is logged with the credential ID and timestamp.
Transient parkers take a ticket at entry. The entry time is recorded in CloudEASE. At exit, the parker pays the calculated fee at the pay station or cashier station. CloudEASE applies any validation discount and confirms payment before releasing the gate. The transaction record ties the ticket barcode to the full transaction history.
The two transaction types coexist in the same physical lanes and the same CloudEASE instance. Revenue reporting separates access credential transactions from transient ticket transactions so operators can see each revenue stream independently and track changes in the mix over time.
