ALPR Usage & Privacy Policy
Parking BOXX manufactures equipment that may include Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) technology. California Civil Code Section 1798.90.51 requires ALPR operators to publish a usage and privacy policy. We primarily manufacture and license this equipment rather than operate it — this policy applies to the extent our own access brings us within the statute’s scope.
1. Authorized Purposes
Parking BOXX accesses ALPR information to support the delivery, maintenance, and technical support of the systems it provides to customers.
2. Authorized Users
Access is limited to technical support and engineering personnel whose duties require it, on a least-privilege basis.
3. Monitoring and Compliance
Access to ALPR information is logged and reviewed periodically for compliance with this policy.
4. Sharing, Sale, and Transfer Restrictions
Parking BOXX does not sell ALPR information and does not share it with third parties, except with the facility operator that owns the data or as required by law.
5. Custodian
Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Parking BOXX.
6. Data Accuracy
Parking BOXX can review ALPR information for accuracy. When asked to verify information in our possession, we will take reasonable measures to confirm it and, if inaccurate, correct it.
7. Retention and Destruction
ALPR information is retained as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy. Drives located at a facility are destroyed pursuant to the policies and procedures of that facility’s owner or operator. Data maintained by Parking BOXX is destroyed pursuant to Parking BOXX’s own data retention and destruction policies.
