Credential Types for Every Parking Application
Parking BOXX access control systems support multiple credential formats, allowing facilities to choose the type that best fits their parking population and operation model.
RFID cards are the standard format for monthly and long-term parkers. They are the same form factor as a standard credit card, easy to carry in a wallet, and readable by the lane-mounted RFID reader as the driver approaches the gate. RFID cards are durable, easy to encode, and cost-effective for large populations.
Key fobs attach to a keyring, making them the preferred format for residential parking, employee lots where drivers habitually have keys in hand, and any application where the cardholder is unlikely to carry a separate card. Key fobs use the same RFID technology as cards and work with the same readers.
Proximity cards cover older access control reader formats in legacy installations. Parking BOXX systems support proximity card formats for facilities that need to maintain compatibility with existing credentials during a system upgrade before migrating to newer RFID formats.
Mobile credentials use a smartphone or NFC-enabled wearable in place of a physical card. The cardholder holds their phone near the access reader to open the gate. Mobile credentials are issued and managed through CloudEASE the same way as physical credentials, with the advantage of zero lost-card replacements and immediate issuance without mailing a physical card.
CloudEASE Credential Management

Access tiers let administrators define different credential classes with different privileges. A monthly parker credential opens the main garage at all hours. A contractor credential opens the service entrance on weekdays between 7 AM and 6 PM. A visitor credential is valid for 30 days and opens only the visitor lot. Audit trails record every gate event by credential. Administrators can pull a report showing every time a specific credential was used, at which gate, and at what time. LPR as a Credential-Free Alternative
License plate recognition (LPR) allows facilities to provide credentialed access without issuing any physical credential at all. Cardholder license plates are registered in CloudEASE. The LPR camera at the entry reads the plate and matches it against the database. If the plate is registered and the access window is valid, the gate opens automatically — no card tap, no phone wave, no button press.
LPR credentials are especially useful for carpools, rental fleets, and any population where the same parking user may arrive in different vehicles. Multiple plates can be associated with a single cardholder account in CloudEASE. If a monthly parker uses a rental car while their vehicle is in the shop, they register the rental plate in their account and access continues uninterrupted.
Facilities can run LPR alongside physical credentials. Some cardholders prefer a physical card or fob. Others prefer plate-based access. CloudEASE supports both in the same system without separate management interfaces.
