Nashville is located on the Cumberland River in Davidson County in the north central part of the state of Tennessee in the southeast part of the U.S.A. The town was founded in 1779 by James Robertson, John Donelson and Overmountain Men. They settled near Fort Nashborough and named the town after Revolutionary War hero, Francis Nash. The town was incorporated in 1806 and became the state capital in 1843. Nashville is famous for its legendary country music. The Grand Ole Opry House, home to the Grand Ole Opry. Honky-tonks abound.
