Flat rated parking systems, like any other PARCS (parking access and revenue control systems) have barrier gates at two access points: entry lane and exit lane.
The difference between full-feature and flat-rated systems has to do with the number of equipment machines needed for the system to function. Full-featured systems require two machines: Entry BOXX and Exit BOXX. Flat rated systems only require one: Flat Rate BOXX.
In full-featured systems barrier gates connect to Entry BOXX on entry, and Exit BOXX on exit. Both access points require a barrier gate and a parking machine.
In flat-rated systems, only one access point requires a barrier gate & parking machine pairing. The other access point has a barrier gate that lifts automatically when it detects an oncoming car.
Systems designed for payment on entry will have a Flat Rate BOXXX and barrier on entry, and an automatic barrier gate on exit. Parkers pay using Flat Rate BOXX before entry .
Systems designed for payment on exit will have an automatic barrier gate on entry and a Flat Rate BOXX and barrier gate on exit. Parkers pay using Flat Rate BOXX before exit .
